A recent post that appeared on an underground forum is causing a stir. A user with the nickname "dvxmode" put up for sale a database containing personal data of 450,000 customers of an unknown Italian banking intermediary.

The user claims that the database was obtained as a result of an attack on a corporation, an Italian bank, although the name of the institution has not been revealed.

Database Details:

According to the post, the database includes extremely sensitive information, including:

Full names
Email addresses
Phone numbers
Residential addresses
Amounts of investments

The user, recently registered on the platform (Sept. 27, 2024), sells the database for $950. However, it does not offer any testing or preview of the data before payment, increasing the level of caution on the part of possible buyers.

The post specifies that while the hackers were able to obtain the database by hacking the corporation, they were unable to do anything else with the company in question. Thus, it would appear that the main objective was data theft and not direct damage to the bank's operations.

A Danger to Customers:

If confirmed, this attack could have serious consequences for the bank's customers. Contact details and personal investments are very valuable information and can be used for numerous fraudulent activities, such as financial scams, targeted phishing, or even identity theft.

At present, it is not known which bank was hacked. However, the fact that the database was offered for sale on an underground forum without immediate verification raises questions about its authenticity. This incident again highlights the importance of cybersecurity and Cyber Threat Intelligence for financial institutions and the need for customers to closely monitor any suspicious activity in their accounts.

Customers of Italian banks, especially those who have made investments, should pay close attention to suspicious communications in the coming months to avoid falling victim to possible fraud.
